RIO TINTO VACCINE HUB IN TOM PRICE AND PARRABURDOO
Rio Tinto has deployed vaccination hubs in the Pilbara.
The clinics were created with assistance from the State Government in Tom Price and Paraburdoo, with those towns chosen based on need and operations.
Rio’s Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Nell Gillert says locals from the community who aren’t employees are eligible to also get vaccinated at the clinics.
“And it obviously makes good sense from the perspective of our operational footprint within the Pilbara to really support our communities in Tom Price and Paraburdoo in the first instance.
“It’s really about making access to vaccines easy for our people and communities and because we fundamentally support that vaccination is one of the key ways out of the pandemic and keeping our people safe.”
The Tom Price clinic is scheduled to operate from the 17th to the 21st of September with Paraburdoo open for appointments on the 23rd of September.
Ms Gillert says that RTIO will remain closely aligend with the WA Department of Health.
“it's regarding obvious the availability of vaccines, which does continue to be evolving, however, very, encouragingly and we certainly know that additional stocks have arrived within the country overnight.”
