This year, Kate Pinkham made a significant impact as the captain of her team during the MACA 200, a prominent charity cycling event dedicated to cancer research. Joined by three fellow riders, Kate participated alongside passionate cyclists from the community at Optus Stadium, all united by the goal of supporting vital cancer research and improving the lives of those affected by this devastating disease.

Kate shared, “Overall, the event this year raised $10.3 million, possibly even $10.4 million, and our team raised about $25,000.”

For Kate, the MACA 200 holds profound significance; she lost both of her parents to cancer in 2021, which inspired her to take up cycling as a way to honour their memory and contribute to the fight against the disease.

“I'm hoping for a bigger team and more fundraisers next year. We’ve got more events planned, and I’m optimistic we can get the word out,” she added.

In addition to her cycling endeavours, Kate is also a part owner of the Hula Bar, where she and her colleagues are planning upcoming events featuring DJs and live bands. They are eager to host some exciting shows before the new year. Through these events, Kate and her crew aim to bring the community together and support local causes.
