A report that looks at Australia’s illicit drug use by examining water samples was released on Wednesday, last week.

The National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Program was started in 2016 and publishes periodical reports on which Illicit drugs are used most frequently in which locations across Australia.

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission assigned the report. The Commission was set up in 2016, and specialises in gathering information on criminal activities in Australia.

The report found that South Australia had the highest level of Methalamphetine use in capital cities, compared to other states across Australia.

Whereas Western Australia held the highest average level of regional consumption of the drug.

The Program gathers information by examining samples of drugs found in wastewater in rural and regional areas.
