The WA Police Union has reassured people living in remote Aboriginal communities that they would not suffer as a result of a coming ban on unpaid overtime.

Union’s president Mick Kelly said officers at Multi Function Police Facilities such as Jigalong and Looma would continue to work as usual.

“Those officers at those MFPFs receive additional remuneration for their 24/7 ability to serve the community,” he said. “So I don’t believe it’s going to affect the community in those locations. “

Mr Kelly said Police were planning a ban on unpaid overtime as the WA Government was yet to offer a pay rise after four months of negotiation.
