QANTAS PASSENGER UNIMPRESSED

A Tom Price resident with extensive tourism industry experience had a frustrating time as a Qantas passenger this week.

Sonia Powell said she received a call at 7.30pm to say her flight scheduled for 8.30 the next morning had been cancelled.

It was eventually rescheduled to depart at 5pm, but departure was delayed to 5.50pm.

Due to technical difficulties Ms Powell was then diverted to Karratha where she and her daughters, aged seven and 10 had to wait.

Eventually they landed in Perth at 10.5pm, only to be told they would have to wait to disembark as the plane was in a queue.

They got to their hotel at midnight, but had to leave at 8am to catch a bus to Albany.

Ms Powell said she had to reschedule her airport transfer bus from Tom Price to Paraburdoo, and her bus to Albany.

“They say that the Perth to Paraburdoo route is the most profitable flight leg of Qantas,” she said. “You think they’d look after us a little bit better. But it was also interesting that it was my first flight with the capped prices. I was like ‘is this what we’re going to have to put up with? With the capped prices, are they going to drop our flights first?’”

Qantas has been contacted for comment.
