Halls Creek’s Kimberley Hotel has applied to install electric security fencing.

Shire president Malcolm Edwards said several local businesses had installed high garrison fencing but this was a step further.

”The Kimberley Hotel’s got a fairly substantial fence around it ,” he said. “It’s got barbed wire on the top plus there’s a section where they put in razor wire in the middle of the fence. I said: ‘what, people are climbing over this? There must be people getting in’.”

The proposal is open to public comment until Friday September 30, with details available on the Shire website.
