Kungarakan elder and Senior Australian of the Year Professor Tom Calma has said Aboriginal people should have conversations with their non-Aboriginal friends about the Voice to Parliament.

Professor Calma told Ngaarda Radio that Australia could move forward together by voting ‘Yes’.

“We’ve got to do it with all the non-Indigenous people out there, the whitefellas, because that’s the numbers that are going to take it over,” he said.

“Any of our listeners who have non-Aboriginal friends, they should talk to them and say, ‘This is important that we get this across, because this is going to allow us to take that first step forward, and then we can take more steps forward, but we've got to take that first step first.”

The Voice Referendum will be held on Saturday 14 October.

Listen to Professor Calma speak to Ngaarda Media’s Marion Cheedy. He explains why he things The Voice is a good step forward, and shares his message for the Blak Sovereign Movement:
