POLICE OFFICER HOSPITALISED ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT

Roebourne Police attended a welfare check last night at about 10:10pm in Roebourne.

Senior Sergeant Dale Harmer from the Roebourne police confirmed that approximately fifty to seventy persons were at the address police attended. Unrelated to the initial task a fight broke out between two females with one being armed with a rake.

“Police intervened and arrested the female aggressor before being surrounded by a group of  intoxicated people. One female officer was punched to the head and pepper spray was deployed,” he said.

One police officer was conveyed to Roebourne Hospital for treatment and released early this morning.

“As a result of the incident police attended the area to regain control and prevent any further aggression. Two males were arrested for disorderly conduct and there is expected to be further arrests today for the assault on police.

This was alcohol fuelled violence between groups. Police attempted to calm the situation.”
