POLICE CONDUCT SEARCH OPERATION IN ROEBOURNE PRISON CAR PARK

In a two-day operation this month, police conducted a search operation outside the Roebourne prison. 

Roebourne Constable Joel Wright said eight charges were laid during the operation under the Misuse of Drugs Act and the Road Traffic Act. 

“Roebourne Police and Karratha Detectives assisted the Roebourne Prison staff with doing a car park operation where all visitors to the Prison were stopped before they got inside,” said Constable Wright.

“They were subjected to searches using both canine and physical officers searching both vehicles and persons.”

A Department of Justice spokesperson said no one was charged with attempting to bring contraband into Roebourne Prison.
