PILBARA TRUCKIE PAYS TRIBUTE TO ROY PACEY WHO PASSED AWAY IN IN 1997
A truck driver has created a tribute video for a fellow driver who died in a crash on the Great Northern Highway north of Newman in 1997. The memorial, located about 60 kilometres from Newman town, has become a significant site for the driver, who often travels the route.
Gareth Wheeler encouraged truckies to sound their horns in tribute to Roy Pasely as they passed on Friday, the 21st of March, which marks the day he passed in 1997.
Wheeler says the dangers of trucking—fatigue, wildlife, reckless motorists, and long stretches away from loved ones—make the memorial particularly meaningful. They hope the video will honour the driver's memory and highlight life's challenges on the road.
