PILBARA AGED CARE SERVICE 'CLEARED' OF MISCONDUCT

The CEO of Yaandina Aged Care facility and the Aged Care Quality Commission have investigated allegations of inappropriate conduct that took place on February the 8th 2024 in Roebourne, Western Australia.

Ngaarda Media was contacted by a source who wants to remain anonymous. The source alleges that a client’s request to be moved to another room with a working air con unit was declined and that the facility Manager was observed yelling profanities at the elderly resident.

In a statement, CEO, Emma Dumbrell of Yaandina Aged Care confirmed that the air con was out of service and two portable air conditioners were arranged for the room within four days. The client was moved immediately to another room until the portable airconditioners were in place.

“All the residents' rooms have their personal belongings and personal furniture so we aim to provide a solution rather than re-locating them, Emma Bumbrell explained.

There has been an internal investigation conducted by myself and an external investigation conducted by the Aged Care Quality Commission into the two allegations of:

A resident being left in a room with no air conditioning

The facility Manager using abusive language towards a resident

The outcome of these investigations is that the allegations were not substantiated and the Aged Care Quality Commission is satisfied that the resident is being well cared for.
