NITV AIMS TO COUNTER VOICE MISINFORMATION

The head of NITV’s referendum coverage says misinformation on the Voice to Parliament is a “huge issue” the broadcaster is working to combat.

Palawa woman and Head of NITV’s Referendum Unit Rhanna Collins said misinformation was rife, especially because this was the “first referendum in a fully digital age”.

“Our role is to call it out, and we’re doing that across our news service; we’re doing that in our program The Point.

“We’re making sure that we’re giving Australians and our mob a reliable destination to get factual information, and to actually address a lot of those mistruths and also disinformation.”
