NICKY WINMAR AND KIRBY BENTLY FOOTY CARNIVAL COMING TO PILBARA

Aboriginal Football WA

Pilbara football fans will be in for a treat at this year’s Ricky Winmar and Kirby Bentley multicultural carnival will be in the Pilbara.

WA Football Commission representative Vicki Agnew said the two-day event would be held at Wickham on July 2 and 3.

“Our kids and youth don’t have to travel to Perth to see and have this fantastic opportunity, Ms Agnew told Ngaarda Media.

It’s always been an Indigenous carnival that is now Nicky Winmar and Kirby Bently themselves recognise the hard work that everyone in the Pilbara especially does with cross-cultural awareness and they have made it a multicultural carnival. Not only will we have our own Indigenous youth playing but we may have some Filipino youth, some Maaori youth some African youth so hopefully we get a good cross-section of the community playing football - up for talent identification and we can showcase the amazing cultures of the Pilbara.”

Ms Agnew said the event would be open to no-Indigenous players for the first time.
