NGAARDA MEDIA, 3KND KOOL 'N' DEADLY, AND 8 TRIPLE C CELEBRATE WINS AT COMMUNITY BROADCASTING AWARDS

Ngaarda Media and 3KND Kool 'N' Deadly, alongside Indigenous broadcaster Donavan Rice from 8 Triple C, recently achieved a significant milestone by winning a prestigious award at the Community Broadcasting Association National Awards.
3KND Kool 'N' Deadly and Ngaarda Media were honored with the Award for Excellence in Special Events and Outside Broadcasting for their exceptional collaboration during the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2024.
Tangiora Hinaki, CEO of Ngaarda Media, noted that a key figure in this achievement was Gerry Terati Lyons, affectionately known as 'G Man,' the former Station Manager of 3KND Kool 'N' Deadly.
Ms Hinak said a highlight of their efforts was a viral video featuring Senator Jacinta Price performing a country song, which garnered over 322,000 views on social media.
She resurge in engagement underscored the impact of collaborative storytelling in showcasing the cultural richness and artistic talent at the festival.
Looking ahead, Ms Hinaki mentioned that Ngaarda Media has applied for funding to facilitate experiences for Aboriginal broadcasters, enabling them to create content that captures the essence of the festival.
"Our mob will not only get an opportunity to see firsthand what the Tamworth Country Music Festival is all about, but also to engage with the most famous country music singers in Australia," she stated.
Jodie Geddes from 3KND expressed pride in being recognized for their hard work.
"It wasn't just one day of an outside broadcast. It was 10 days from 8 in the morning until sometimes one, two, or three in the morning," she explained.
Ms Geddes also shared one of her favorite highlights from the festival: "The Golden Guitar Awards and the red carpet. I'm not a big country fan, but seeing all those artists and meeting them— they’re so down to earth. After doing interviews with a lot of them, they felt like old friends on the red carpet."
As Ngaarda Media and 3KND Kool 'N' Deadly continue their creative endeavors, they remain committed to celebrating culture, community, and the magic of music.
Additionally, the Award for Excellence in Indigenous Content & Engagement went to 8 Triple C Radio and PAW Media for their podcast, The Heat.
Indigenous Podcacaster Donavan Rice remarked that the podcast focused on climate change and its impact on the land, people, and everything in between.
"There’s quite a big change due to climate change, and hopefully we can better manage it somehow," he said.
"If we gather all the information and apply it to our ways, we can work together with scientists to make it work."
