NEW WEB PLATFORM TO REPORT DODGY FISHING
People who want to report illegal fishing may now do so using an online app, WA Fisheries minister Don Punch said.
He said access to the new Fishwatch app is via the CrimeStoppers website.
“The online platform sits alongside the CrimeStoppers website,” he said. “So you go into CrimeStoppers and you can click on the Fisheries icon there and it’ll take you straight into the reporting framework and it allows you to upload a picture.
“So if you take a picture of somebody who is doing the wrong thing or a car rego or whatever you can upload it and that makes it a lot easier for the Fisheries staff to follow through.”
Mr Punch said people could still make telephone reports by calling a 24-hour hotline on 1800 815 507.
