NEW SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNEL FOR LGBTQI

Nyamal drag queen Alyeesha Tryed, who grew up in the Pilbara, was excited to learn there is a new YouTube channel young LGBTQI people in regional WA can access.

Aboriginal people who are LGBTQI are invited to tune into a dedicated new YouTube channel from this Thursday.

First Nations Media chairman Dennis Stokes said the new channel, on IndigiTube, would have a mixture of fun and serious content.

He said Paula Maling, who started the project, was particularly concerned about people in isolated and remote locations.

“Where do they go to to get information, and postive information as well,” he said. “I think that was Paula’s focus when she first thought about it, went out and looked for funding and got it. I think it’s going to be a great tool for young people to utilise and get information, and also places where they can go to and seek advice.”
