NAIDOC ROEBOURNE AND PEEDA MULLA

Trevor Parker’s grandson dances the little devil dance he once performed.

Children at Peedamulla community in the southern Pilbara celebrated NAIDOC with a corroboree as the adults treated visitors to a dinner of kangaroo, emu and damper on Saturday.

As the sun set, Panjima elder Trevor Parker treated visitors to a traditional song performance as Peedamulla kids performed the dances he himself had danced as a youngster.

Approximately 200 people occupied every available powered and unpowered site at the community’s public camping ground.

Organiser and community member Caroline Parker said it was the fourth time they had run the event and the first time it had been a “sell out”
