A First Nations majority-owned company in the Pilbara has signed a multi-million dollar contract with BHP.

The $8 million dollar contract has been signed between Cedrent Enterprises and BHP.

Cedrent Enterprises is half-owned by the Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation and will provide car hire services for BHP employees in South Australia and Western Australia.

Cedrent Enterprises General Manager Dan Walmsley said the multi-million dollar contract will help to empower the community.

“Alongside these contracts, we have a diverse program that we are trying to implement now off the back of this,” Mr Walmsley said.

“These opportunities help us grow commercially through our Enterprise rent-a-car brand.

“As we grow commercially, we look to buy First Nation supplies along our supply chain. Companies like Yurra have been approached.

“We also have a tertiary program that we are trying to work through with a company called Smith Family.”
