MORNING JOGGERS FIND KANGAROO CARCASSES

Dampier Police are on the lookout for someone they say deliberately ran down and killed four Kangaroos in a public place on Monday night.

Sgt Paul World said passers by found four kangaroo carcasses at the public car park adjoining Hampton Oval early yesterday morning.

"There’s evidence there that a car’s been driving erratically and run over a number of Kangaroos and killed them,” he said.

“And they’ve been left there for members of the public to find.

“It’s quite a distressing sight with members of the public who came across it early this morning.”

Sgt World said two of the carcasses were of joeys expelled from their mothers’ pouches.

“We are desperately seeking any individuals who have seen anything either last night or this morning,” he said.

“Maybe a car or cars driving erratically around the gravel car park at Hampton Oval that may be able to assist Police.

“Between Parks and Wildlife; and Police; and Shire that won’t be tolerated.”
