MEET THE PILBARA CANDIDATES, LOCAL ELECTION 2021
SHIRE OF ASHBURTON
TINA MLADENOVIC
As a mother of 3 boys, I have strong connections to Tom Price through relationships with community groups, sporting clubs and families. I want to see our council show leadership by advocating for our residents, create opportunities for real community consultation, be transparent and build relationships that are transformative rather than transactional. We need to invest resource supplied funds into supporting our schools, small businesses, access to medical services, early intervention programs as well as community groups who are already trusted and supported by the community. It's time to invest in our families for a sustainable future beyond mining with a financial commitment to housing, cultural tourism, affordable airfares, education and healthcare. I believe we are more than mining. Mobile: 0428 151 122 Social Network Address: www.facebook.com/Tina-Mladenovic-Candidate-for-the-Shire-of-Ashburton-105116161909972
MATTHEW LYNCH
My family and I have called Tom Price home for 16 years. I have immersed myself in our community, by being part of many community groups and am a life member of the Drive In, Men's Softball and am a NTTPPS board member. I believe that diversity is the key to growing our communities and remaining relevant beyond mining.
Over the last 5 years as Councillor I have advocated for a new daycare, emergency services hub and hospital. I have also seen upgrades to play grounds and sporting facilities, with more to come, like the upcoming Netball/Basketball court roof. I also believe that more than monetary investment is required, to strengthen our communities.
We need to continue to invest ourselves, to ensure our community thrives. I will continue to advocate for our community.

SHIRE OF EAST PILBARA
TOWN OF PORT HEDLAND
RIVERA, Tekohi
Resident of South Hedland with wife and three school aged children, I am a strong believer in living where you work and giving to the community where you can. I work for a local engineering consultancy based in Port Hedland. Over the last thirty years, I have had twelve years’ experience as a local government engineer. Most recently as a Director Infrastructure Services for a regional council in New South Wales. So I know Local Government. Between those jobs I have worked as project engineer for main roads departments, hard dollar civil contractors and as a CEO of an overseas government corporation in the Pacific Islands. I look forward to the opportunity to serve Hedland residents and make Hedland more liveable and appealing for workers and their families.

CITY OF KARRATHA
BRIAN WALL
My family and I have called Karratha home for the last 5 years. I have over 30 years working experience in local government and understand how it functions and operates. I have been an active member in netball, swimming club and President Dampier Surf Club for the past 3 years. If elected as your Councillor, I will lobby state government for better education for our kids and better health services for the development and population sustainability of Karratha. As a local in Nickol I feel the streetscapes throughout Karratha need rejuvenating and our drainage corridors need to be clean and green. I am keen to support local tourism business development to create alternative employment opportunities for our Youth and put Karratha on the map. I love Karratha and that is why I bought a house. I love where we live, and can be counted on to help our community where it’s needed. My kids are Karratha kids, and that means volunteering for all the things! I give my time on 5 junior sports committees, and 1 community board. I’m also a full-time worker with a degree in commerce, and am studying a masters in leadership, strategy and innovation. We have so many issues to solve, and I’m not afraid of hard work. I know what it’s like to pay ridiculous rent, the cost of building a house, the impossible situation with day care, and affordability here in general. These are all issues close to my heart. Our city can be a place where families and small business thrive long term, where council deliver the projects our community want. I'll advocate for change on the issues you care about most. JOANNE WATERSTROM - MULLER
I have served on council over the last 4 years during which council has delivered significant initiatives including opening new community spaces such as the REAP and Dampier foreshore, supported local business during COVID. I am a proactive member of City committees to champion safer communities, the arts and provide a voice for local youth. As a born and bred local I am passionate about our community, maintaining my volunteer role with Karratha SES and in doing so providing a positive role model to my two teenage children. If re-elected I will continue to support these activities and initiatives. I will also advocate for more health professional and affordable accommodation; help grow local businesses and care for our environment so we can make this the most liveable regional city. TRAVIS MCNAUGHT
I moved to Karratha over 7 years ago with my wife and three children and we are proud to call it home. I have 17 years experience in project management and have contributed to numerous local projects including the city centre revitilisation and the award winning Balyarra Park. I am now working with local Aboriginal people to deliver a game-changing tourism facility on Murujuga and want to continue to help Karratha become the most liveable regional city in Australia. I currently contribute to the community as the Deputy Chair on the Baynton West Primary School Board, and as a Justice of the Peace, and would like to build on this by becoming a City of Karratha Councillor. If you want a qualified and honest representative with common sense, I ask that you vote 1 Travis McNaught. My name is Tangiora Hinaki and I would like to be your voice to council from Roebourne, Point Samson and Wickham.
I am a ratepayer of 3 properties in the city of Karratha and my partner and I have raised our 8 children here for 16 years.
If elected I will meet with you in your community
To hear your ideas. I am also keen to meet regularly with a community representative from Samson, Roebourne and Wickham for regular updates and feedback.
I will fight for a fair distribution of funds evenly across the City of Karratha to see your ideas come to fruition.
Like toilets and sufficient shade at the four parks in Wickham. Tackling the glass at Saylor Park.
Working towards housing solutions for daycare staff so mums can go to work because the daycares in Roe and Wickham have a waiting list due to lack of staff.
Roebourne residents have asked for a cyclone shelter, footpaths to be finished and driveways to be put in.
Samson residents would like footpaths, curbing maintenance and TLC of the town to get it to the same standard as Dampier.
I will be your voice to the council and I can’t do it without you. There is wisdom in the council of many.
I won’t promise to deliver but I will work hard to make it happen.
Give me a call, I’d love to hear from you.

PABLO MILLER
I'm proud to call Karratha home and it would be an honour to represent you if re-elected.
My wife, daughter and I have wholeheartedly embraced the Karratha community these last 10 years and I wish to continue to contribute to this incredible place we call home.
Working in the local media and being a former small business owner within Karratha I have interacted with many of you, shared your concerns, cheered your victories and embraced your challenges.
I'm particularly interested in expanding opportunities for young people and families, growing local cultural tourism, supporting local business, prioritising local jobs, and getting better access to specialised health services in regional WA.
If elected I will continue to listen to you and be a strong advocate for our community. Email: pablomiller@outlook.com.au Social Network Address: facebook.com/RealPabloMiller
