MARBLE BAR HOUSING REFURBISHMENT PROJECT A FLOP
A Marble Bar resident is wondering why the Department of Communities has not finished renovating homes in the community after the project was launched five to six years ago.
Nyibarli woman Julia Coffin says Homeswest told her it was because they could not find contractors.
Ms Coffin says one family has recently moved to a refurbished home which has divided the community.
The Department of Communities issued a statement saying there were four applications for public housing in the Marble Bar preference zone in March this year, of which three were priority-listed.
“Inspections are completed annually, and all tenants are present when inspections are completed,” the statement reads.
“Communities have no evidence that homes have been unoccupied for five years or more.”
