“I’m also trying to start my own t-shirt, heat pressing business,” Ms Art said.
“Motivating stuff, Christian stuff for Aboriginal people, maybe for funerals, events. Not only on t-shirts … On cups, iPad covers, iPhone covers and pillow cases for Aboriginal mob.”
VTS Trainer Linaire Hodge supports trainees through the Cert 1 and 2 Leadership program.
“It covers hospitality, retail and sporting to get them job ready. The clusters (for cert 1) cover your self esteem and building your personal self through to ‘how to run a business’ and become job ready in the workforce.
“The main challenge for us in Karratha is to have our own space. We lease or rent out other spaces in Karratha. It would be lovely to have our own building. We are looking for funding to purchasing another van.”
The VTS program takes place at the Karratha Seven Day Adventist Church.
