JESSICA MAUBOY HEADED TO KARRATHA
Indigenous popstar Jessica Mauboy will head to Karratha this week to perform at an Indigenous Emerging Business Forum and a free public concert.
IEBF Aboriginal Corporation, which provides support and guidance to Aboriginal businesses, will host the events.
The forum promises to help local Aboriginal businesses make connections.
As well as performing at the forum, Jessica Mauboy will perform for free at the Red Earth Arts Centre on Friday evening.
Noongar man and CEO John O’Driscoll said IEBF’s focus was bringing the community together.
“Last year we did a mini-roadshow in the Pilbara,” he said. “We just spoke to some of the mob and some of the community , and they were like, ‘You had Jessica Mauboy in Perth and it was awesome, but we’ll never anything like that here.’
“So we just worked really hard to raise some fund and there’s some really cool sponsors. What we’ve managed to do is have a free concert, so we’ve got Jess Mauboy and her band performing live and free-of-charge for the whole community.”
