This month is Prostate Cancer Awareness Week.

Cancer Council representative Aidan McDowell urges men to see their doctors if they have any unusual symptoms in their goomboo.

“I’f you’ve noticed blood in your pee or in your semen even just once it’s really important just to go get that checked out straight away,” he said. “If you have blood in your pee or semen only once it’s important to get that checked out straight away. It doesn’t mean you’ve got cancer but those symptoms are really important to tell someone about.”

Mr McDowell said urinationg more frequently, or having trouble passing urine or holding urine, were all good reasons for men to seek help.

“With a lot of cancers if you do find them early then the chance of successful treatment is really high,” he said.
