Kamilaroi Bigambul Artist Archie Moore will represent Australia at the Venice Biennale Art Festival in Italy in 2024.

Mr. Moore said he was honoured to be selected for the event and that he hoped it will be an opportunity to show Australian Indigenous art to a global audience.

‘‘It’s a privilege and honor to be selected for the Venice Biennale in 2024,’’ he said.

‘‘I’m the second solo Indigenous artist after Tracey Moffat and I think it’s a great opportunity to show contemporary Indigenous art to a wider audience.’’

Mr. Moore will display art that explores Indigenous Australia’s relationship to colonisation at the Festival.

‘‘It’s a big installation that’s going to be talking about the survival of Indigenous people under 230 plus years of colonisation, my personal family history as well as some national history.’’
