Halls Creek Oval will receive a turf upgrade and irrigation as part of twelve point three million dollars the State Government is injecting into WA’s sports and recreational facilities.

Halls Creek Hawks Club President Zaniel Bin Busu, whose team plays on the oval welcomes the upgrade, in part because of what football means to the locals in Halls Creek.

‘‘It’s fantastic because at the end of the day, I played on this oval back in ‘95, ‘96, (and) ‘97 and it hasn’t changed, and I’m nearly 50,’’ he said.

‘We gotta realise that basic things that most of the countrymen do in the East Kimberley is footy and basketball’’.

However, Mr. Bin Busu firmly believes more funding for East Kimberly sports facilities is required than is currently being provided.
