GLOBAL FIRST NATIONS HEALING CONFERENCE CONCLUDES

The Healing Our Spirits Worldwide Conference took place in Vancouver, Canada this week.

Thousands of Indigenous leaders from around the world gathered to talk about how First Nations groups can heal from the impacts of colonisation.

Banjima Native Title Aboriginal Corporation Director Ben Jeakings was a delegate at the conference.

He said First Nations people around the world faced similar health issues.

“We really wanted to tap in to see how we can provide better medical services for our beneficiaries, especially our elders who have to travel two hours by plane or 12 hours by car to come down to Perth to receive the medical treatment that they need,” he said.

“For us, it's about how we can provide a better service in their home towns or communities.”
