Perth-based company Perdaman has secured finance for a controversial $6.4 billion urea plant it plans to build in the Pilbara at Murujuga, the Burrup Peninsula.

Fertiliser manufacturer Incitec Pivot said funding had been secured in an announcement to the Australian Stock Exchange on Friday.

The announcement said the plant is expected to be up and running by mid-2027.

Some Traditional Custodians have been vocal opponents of the project, as three Aboriginal cultural heritage sites will be relocated to make way for the development.
