FOOD SECURITY A PRIORITY FOR ROEBOURNE

Abby Phillis and Mr Brindle from Brindle Group

Low-cost groceries will become available at the General Store in Roebourne next week, for the first time since its closure in October 2019.

The Ieramagadu Store Maya passes on donated foods such as bread and fruit.  Second Bite supplies excess fruit that comes direct from growers - and the shop is also supported by Brindle Group, which have Good Grocer stores in Karratha and Newman.  The Newman store opened this week.

Director of social impact, Galburgu, Abby Phyllis, says that the store is supported by Woodside, City of Karratha and Nova Resources among others.

Staffed by Deb and Rose, customers are invited to give feedback about what people would like to see in the store.  Vouchers from PBCs will be able to be spent there, and doors open at 10:00 am week-days.

A soft launch at the Store is scheduled for Tuesday 21 December 2021.
