FITZROY FASHION GURU RETURNS FROM PARIS
Imagine turning your artwork into a fashion label!
This dream came true for a Kimberley Aboriginal artist who is on her way home from Paris!
Aboriginal Fashion designer, Letticia Shaw is from Fitzroy Crossing. She is returning from Paris this week, after presenting her fashion line at Paris Fashion Week.
“ I was twelve or thirteen when I started to do sketches and stuff. My art started then, living in Fitzroy Crossing. There weren’t any fancy dress or anything there,” she said.
Ms Shaw, who is of Gooniyandi/Ngaanyatjarra descent, says her grandparents were instrumental in her artistic style.
“ Usually I just paint about things that we have been taught from my grand parents. Going out bush, camping and fishing. The life that I was brought up in.”
Ticia Designs turned heads at the Flying Solo Runway presentation during Paris Fashion Week and Ms Shaw said the experience was good.
“The experience was very good, even the girls loved it. Something new, you know, and to me .. it just felt like my fashion shows in Sydney and Canberra.
Ms Shaw has a Melbourne Fashion show to prepare for before Christmas 2023.
