EASY TARGETS FOR CAR THIEVES

Roebourne police warn people to stop leaving car keys in the ignition, after making three arrests and laying 18 charges.

Senior Sargeant Dale Harmer said many people working on on minesites had fallen into bad habits when driving work vehicles.

“Mainly in the working vehicles, keys are left in vehicles and the young fellas just come and go, ‘that’s for me to play ‘Grand Theft Auto’,’” he said.

It is an offence to leave car keys in an empty car’s ignition.
