DRUG DETECTOR DOGS AT KARRATHA

In the Pilbara, Karratha Detectives ran spot checks on passengers’ luggage at Karratha Airport yesterday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Blaine said it was the type of routine scan for drugs and firearms police ran all the time in Perth.

“it’s not something we do everyday, but we had a chance to do it,” he said.

“We got assistance from a canine unit that’s come up to Karratha to help us, and we got assistance from our drug and firearm squad in Perth which as an excellent machine that enables us to x-ray luggage.”

Senior Sergeant Blaine said they did not find any illegal substances.
