Fremantle Dockers and the WA Police are working together to qualify new police officers, including cadets, as football coaches.

Head Coach of the Dockers’ Next Generation academy Roger Hayden said it was all about building relationships so as to try and change people’s lives.

“Football’s a great tool to get involved with the communities, especially through the Kimberley and all these remote areas because it’s such a big part of everybody’s lives,” Hayden said. “How you can make those connections and build those relationships and have a different lens on the Police in those communities. That’s probably the most important piece if you are thining of having a different view on the police officers out in those areas.”

Along with Dockers AFLW football director Cam Shepherd and other club representatives they conducted football clinics at schools in Hedland, Karratha and Roebourne earlier this week and are attending a Gaelic Football game between Clontarf and Woodside at Karratha today.
