COSSACK TO GET 50 MORE NATURE BASED CAMPSITES

The department of planning Land and heritage has approved the use of land at Cossack for 50 more nature-based campsites.

The Ngarluma Yindjibarndi foundation has a licence for Nature-based camping at the historical town of Cossack in the Pilbara.  They currently have two different areas with four campsites at each location.

NYFL is working with the City of Karratha to get the licence for the new sites.

Emily Zimmerley is the Tourism Manager at Galbagu, a business arm that sits under NYFL and is excited about the development and not turning tourists away.

“Last season we were turning campers away daily, they were stuck in the overflow campsite in Karratha in the carpark by the golf course,” she said.

“Not only can we accommodate those people but if they are going to stay, they are going to spend more because they will have a much better experience in nature.”
