Last week in Queensland, hundreds took to the streets to mourn the death of an Indigenous man who was shot dead by police in Far North Queensland.

27-year-old Aubrey Donohue was shot and killed by police officers in Mareeba on March 25.

Police say Mr Donohue approached specialist officers with a knife after a four-hour siege.

On Friday, Police confirmed that the officers who shot Mr Donahues were not wearing body cameras, but other officers that attended the scene were, and that footage would be reviewed.

Mr Donohue’s uncle, Kukuthaypan man Grayson Elu, said the family was seeking answers from police regarding what occurred.

He said his questions included: “Why weren’t there any other options for handling the situation? Why wasn’t a taser or pepper spray used?”
