Karratha cycling team the CoK Riders say they need $9000 to reach their $50 000 fundraising goal for the Harry Perkins Institute of medical research.

This weekend, 1500 cyclists will take part in the MACA Cancer 200.

Karratha local Kate Pinkham did the ride solo last year after losing both her parents to cancer.

“By the time I actually did the ride, I think it was about four weeks after I lost my dad,” she said.

“[Cancer] is always something that’s been in my life, whether it’s been my parents battling or extended family and friends.

“I think everybody’s impacted somewhere.”

Collectively, the riders have raised $7.3 million and Ms Pinkham is asking for people to help her team raise nine thousand to reach their goal.
