CELEBRATE DIVERSITY AND JOY AT THE PILBARA PRIDE FEST THIS WEEKEND!

The Pilbara Pride Fest is here, bringing a burst of color, celebration, and inclusivity to our community. This weekend promises a lineup of exciting events, culminating in the much-anticipated Pride Parade on Saturday, June 22nd. Whether you're a local or visiting, there are plenty of activities to enjoy and be part of the celebration.

Friday Night Kick off: Rainbow Markets and Movie Night

The festivities begin on Friday evening with the Rainbow Markets at the harbour. Enjoy a variety of stalls, vibrant performances, and delicious food while mingling with our fabulous drag queens. The evening also features an open-air movie night, creating a perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy the night under the stars.

Meet Our Special Guest: Hannah Conda

We're thrilled to announce that the fabulously talented Hannah Conda, renowned from RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, will be joining us for the first time. Hannah will be emceeing the Pride Parade and participating in various events throughout the weekend. Don't miss the chance to meet and see performances by this incredible artist.

Saturday: The Pride Parade and More

The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the Pride Parade on Saturday. Starting at 10:00 a.m., the parade will feature vibrant floats, community groups, and local businesses marching down Wedge Street. This year, we’re proud to introduce floats, adding an extra layer of spectacle to our celebration.

The parade will be followed by a special Tugboat Spectacular at 11:30 a.m., organized by BHP, right in the harbour. It’s a unique and must-see event for everyone.

For families, there’s a rainbow colouring competition, with winners announced at the Headland Visitor Centre, where Alicia will also host a delightful story time session.

Saturday Evening: Rainbow Dance Party

The celebrations culminate with the Rainbow Dance Party at the Walkabout Hotel. Themed "All About Glitter," the party will feature performances from our visiting queens and local dance groups. It’s the perfect way to end a day of celebration and community.

Community Support and Future Plans

This festival is made possible through the incredible support of the Port Hedland Visitor Centre, Portside, Headspace, and many more. We’re also grateful for the participation of talented locals like Alicia Triad and the Bat Dance Crew, as well as special guests from Broome and Perth.

Gloria Jacob told us that, “We’re already looking forward to planning next year’s festival, continuing our mission of promoting respect, acceptance, and visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community in Pilbara”.

Join us this weekend to celebrate, support, and embrace the spirit of pride!
