CAR THEFT AT KNIFEPOINT ALLEGED
A man faced Karratha Magistrate’s Court this afternoon charged with breaking into a house and stealing a vehicle.
On Sunday a Karratha woman said the man entered her home and threatened her with a knife before stealing her car.
She called the police and published appeals for help on social media.
Ngaarda Media understands Police quickly arrested the offender after a short chase through Millars Well, ending on foot.
Senior Sergeant Paul Matthews said they arrested a male offender.
“It is pretty wild isn’t it?” he said. “You wouldn’t think this sort of thing would happen in Karratha.”
Ernest Patrick Robert Aliwishes Charles, 19, was remanded in custody until July 20 and bail was not considered.
He was charged with aggravated home burglary, obstructing public officers, stealing, stealing a motor vehicle, armed robbery, driving under the influence, failing to comply with a direction to stop and driving while under suspension.
All charges related to the one incident.
