CAMILO BLANCO ACCUSES WA POLICE OF UNFAIR TREATMENT OVER ELECTION SIGN INCIDENT

BY ASAD KHAN

Political commentator and anti-corruption activist Camilo Blanco has accused Western Australia Police of unfair treatment following his removal of an election sign.

Mr Blanco claims he disposed of a Kevin Michel campaign sign after the election, believing it had been abandoned on public property and no longer served a purpose.

He alleges that police called him in for questioning before unexpectedly detaining him, conducting a search, and discussing the possibility of a strip search.

“I was later released without charge after police informed me that the complainant no longer wished to proceed,”

He has condemned the incident, claiming it was a deliberate attempt to humiliate him, orchestrated by the Labor Party.

“We need to know how high this goes in the Labor Party and whether any police officers are involved. This is how communist socialist countries treat their people through their police force. This should not be happening in Australia,

“I will be submitting an official complaint to police, a Freedom of Information request on the matter, and if that is obstructed, I will escalate it to the CCC, the Ombudsman, the Parliamentary Inspector— even the Pope if I have to.”

A WA Police spokesperson told Ngaarda Media that the matter was investigated by South Hedland Police and was finalised with no charges laid.

“As the matter is now subject to a police complaint, no further information can be provided,” the spokesperson said.
