CAMEL MAN HAS RETURNED TO WA

John Arthur Elliott ends his 850-day camel journey at Geraldton Beach.

After three and a half years of walking, self-taught cameleer John Arthur Elliott is staying in Geraldton to rest his animals and his feet.

Mr Elliott said he had visited every state in Australia and seven of its 10 major deserts since leaving the insurance broking firm he started.

“The next step is: not move anywhere for a while,” he said. “I’ve moved 850 times in the last three and a half years, I’m looking forward to sitting in one place.”

Mr Elliott said he had not decided what he wanted to do next.
