CALLS FOR‌ KARRATHA COUNCILLOR PABLO MILLER TO RESIGN AS HE NO LONGER LIVES IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

BY ASAD KHAN

The issue of Mr Pablo Miller still serving in the Karratha Council as a Councillor despite no longer residing in the State, let alone the City of Karratha, has again become a topic of debate with growing calls for him to resign.

The founder of the Karratha City Ratepayers & Residents Association, Dani Hage, says his departure from the city was public, and there have been calls since.

“He actually did it quite publicly a few months ago, and he's just been attending meetings online and not in person,”

“We've worked really hard in the past to get a really good strong local Council and one that we can trust, and I feel that this has set us back quite a few years, which is disappointing,”

She said the Council is not even on the same page on the matter.

“There is also that disalignment as well between the councillors because obviously certain councillors have raised this as an issue and voted against it, and some have voted for it,”

The Mayor of Karratha, Daniel Scott, has also backed the Councillor, stating that his participation is enabled remotely when he is away.

“Mr Miller can participate in meetings electronically,” he said.

“We will discuss the situation further with Cr Miller if necessary.”

During an Ordinary Council Meeting in May this year, responding to a question on the matter, Councillor Miller said that in the seven years he has been elected a Councillor, he has never missed a meeting and he will return to Karratha for another meeting due in August.
