In Roebourne, assaults on police officers are on the rise.

Senior Sergeant Dale Harmer said there have been three assaults on police in the past two weeks, and officers have had to go to hospital.

“If it’s a proscribed offence, so a bodily injury to the police officer, it can be a mandatory jail term of six months,” Senior Sergeant Harmer said.

“Have a think about it before you put your hands up and try to whack a cop.”
