This week, a group of Indigenous musicians and dancers from a remote community in the Northern Territory will play music from Gurrumul’s second last album with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

The group have travelled from the Galiwin’ ku community in the Northern Territory to perform their show ‘Buŋgul’ for three nights in Melbourne.

Yolnga man Don Wininba Ganambarr is directing the Indigenous performers and said the music draws inspiration from Indigenous Australia’s connection to the land.

“It’s where the songlines are coming from, because the song is coming from the country and the nature and also from the sea and land,” he said.

The Indigenous artists will be playing tonight and tomorrow night at Hamer Hall in Melbourne.
