8 MILLION FOR COSSACK IF MELISSA PRICE IS RE-ELECTED
If re-elected, Member for Durack, Melissa Price said that her government will invest up to $8.2 million to help turn Cossack into a vibrant and self-sufficient centre for tourism and culture.
The funding will support Garlbagu, the social enterprise arm of the Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd to develop 70 nature-based campsites at this site, a storytelling space for Ngarluma culture and other tourism facilities, including art galleries and local shops.
Galbagu CEO, Bruce Jorgensen says he hopes the investment will come from the government that is voted in.
“We don’t really mind where the funding comes from whether it’s from the Liberal government of Labor as long as someone helps us with it. Ultimately, the idea is that the Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi people will own Cossack. That’s the end result,” he said.
And this 8 million that goes towards making it not only a fun place for people to visit from a tourism perspective but a place where people can come to show their proper respect to the bad way our people were treated in the first European occupation.”
