EXPENSIVE GRAFFITI CLEAN UP IN THE EAST PILBARA

A recent spray of rude imagery in Newman has been a challenge to clean.

Cleaning graffiti has cost the Shire of the East Pilbara one hundred and eighty thousand dollars this year.

Shire President, Anthony Middleton says it's a senseless act and money would be better spent on community projects.

“The cost is associated with graffiti removal, hand scrubbed and then pressure washed. It’s disappointing that we have to re-budget and allocate funds to something that is so senseless.”

“If anyone in the community has work vehicles with paint, make sure it’s locked away and not accessible for people to target. Respect public property because the facilities are enjoyed by all.”

Newman police are investigating.
