Juluwaru’s Purpose
Juluwarlu is a Yindjibarndi organisation established to record Yindjibarndi history, language and culture as told by the old people, so that stories of our country are passed on and the uninterrupted knowledge continues as a living culture. It is dedicated to preserving and recording the culture of the Yindjibarni people. Juluwarlu consists of: Juluwarlu Arts, Ganalili Centre, Yindjibarni Cultural Knowledge – Language Archive, Yindjibarni Cultural Education, and Yindjibarni Cultural Heritage.

Ganalili Centre
Redeveloped by Yindjibarndi and operated by Juluwarlu, the Ganalili Centre was opened in 2019 in the old Victoria Hotel in Roebourne. Ganalili is the Yindjibarndi word for the light in the morning before the sun comes over the horizon. An alcohol-free premises, the Ganalili Centre represents a new dawn for a positive, inclusive, culturally significant location for the whole community.
The Ganalili Centre offers a window into Western Australia’s history and heritage through an innovative cultural space where the community and visitors can experience an array of interactive
and educational displays that celebrate the Yindjibarndi language, culture, and people. The Ganalili Centre is a dynamic Yindjibarndi cultural centre as well as a community hub in Roebourne. It includes cultural exhibits, artworks and merchandise for sale, café, parkland for events, venue hire, office tenancies as well as the hosting the Roebourne Visitor Information Centre and local library for the City of Karratha.
Position Purpose
As the Ganalili Coordinator, you will be responsible for the successful operations of the Ganalili Centre including contract management and stakeholder engagement, driving community and visitor engagement, events, venue hire and tenancy management, managing and mentoring a small team of local customer service and retail assistants and trainees.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Area Operational Management
Key Accountabilities
· Ensure the successful operation of the Centre including delivering KPI’s and ensuring targets
are achieved in line with the Juluwarlu Strategic Business Plan.
· Develop and implement operational procedures and site-specific systems for the Centre and
staff, and a procedures manual for guiding existing and new staff, ensuring a high level of
presentation, hygiene, quality service delivery and security.
· Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and support to all staff, trainees, and volunteers,
ensuring a positive working environment.
· Responsible for driving a culture of customer service excellence and supporting all team
members to achieve that goal. Ensure that systems are in place to address enquiries promptly
and to gain feedback on quality of service.
· Ensure product knowledge is current, providing training in POS, customer service, accurately
recording sales, visual merchandising, etc.
· Workforce planning and rostering. Manage employee performance and conduct in line with
Juluwarlu values and policies.
· Maintain stock control through recording & monitoring wastage, accurate monthly stocktakes,
effective ordering/receiving and storage procedures.
· Be responsible for complying with relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation and
organisational policies.
· Manage financial and business activities, recognising the need for regular transparent
reporting and operating within a budget.
· Carry out other duties as directed by the Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation CEO.
Area Contract Management
Key Accountabilities
· Ensure all contractual KPI’s are met and if possible, exceeded.
· Develop strong client relationships and act as a key point of contact.
· Ensure quality of work is in accordance with contractual requirements, company standards
and to the client’s expectations.
· Attend all client meetings and keep copies of agendas/minutes.
· Manage all internal operational activities within the contract.
· Ensure reporting is completed in line with client and management requirements.
· Assist visitors with local accommodation, transport and cultural information queries.
Selection Criteria
Work Experience and Skills
· Demonstrated experience operating a small business, arts/cultural/tourism/events centre or
enterprise.
· Well-developed small business management capabilities including sales and marketing,
financial administration, and efficient office procedures.
· Strong administrative and organisational skills including time management, operational
processes and IT and POS software proficiency.
· Experience in the coordination and operation of retail spaces and/or cultural venues.
· Demonstrated experience in training and motivating staff in a retail and customer service
setting.
· Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with members, employees,
stakeholders and clients, with a high level of interpersonal and cross-cultural communication
skills.
· Experience or ability to working in an Aboriginal community and work effectively with
Aboriginal people.
Qualifications
· Tertiary qualifications or minimum of three years’ relevant experience in business
management, tourism, small business, arts and cultural management or marketing.
